Reddit Accepting Signups For Its Beta Android App - It’s strange that Reddit does not have an official app. Sure, they have an official AMA app but in terms of an official app to browse its website, the closest we’ve gotten is probably Alien Blue which Reddit acquired back in 2014, sort of making it the official Reddit app in the process. However that will soon change.
Several months ago Reddit announced that they would be launching an official Android app
and the good news is that if you like the idea of an official Android
app, the website is currently accepting signups to beta test its
upcoming app. If you are interested, you have until the 18th of December
to signup for it via Reddit’s website.
However
there is no guarantee that you will be selected to be part of the beta
test, but you can go ahead and try your luck anyway. The initial round
of testing will see a few thousand selected and given how many users
Reddit has, this is actually a pretty small pool so good luck if you’re
trying to land yourself a spot!
In terms of a release, there is no
specific date given just yet but the company expects that it should be
ready for primetime in the next month or two. As for iOS users, it seems
that Reddit still plans on keeping Alien Blue around as the official
app, but maybe one day we will see the Android version brought over to
iOS. Source: Ubergizmo
